A morning at the beach – Venice child photographer

On a warm September morning, we walked almost two miles on the beach, played in the water, and had a great time!

The morning of our session, these kids saw a baby squirrel fall from a tree in their yard. Not sure what to do, they brought it with to the session, and I ended up taking it up to the Venice Wildlife Center after we finished at the beach. The wildlife center felt this little guy (or girl) had a very good chance of survival, and they would take care of it until it was old enough to release. We also learned some things that day … as scary as it is to see a baby fall from a tree like that, the folks at the Wildlife Center said often the mom will come down from the nest and get the baby! So you can leave it there (perhaps putting it in a box to keep ants and other buggies off of it) and wait and see if mom comes. If she doesn’t, then the Wildlife Center is the next place to go! We were all so happy they could help, and helped us understand what to do if we ever see this happen again.

50th Anniversary Celebration – Lakewood Ranch event photographer

WOW what an event! A client whose daughter I’ve photographed several times commissioned me to cover her parents 50th wedding anniversary celebration. With over a hundred guests, and everyone in beautiful, traditional Indian dress, it was such a neat event to be able to document! The grandchildren and close friends made speeches and created presentations for the couple, and it was truly a heartwarming event.

This cake was amazingly detailed!

Extended family session – Lakewood Ranch family photographer

You might recognize the guy in some of these pictures. ESPN sportscaster Dick Vitale and his family have been clients of Catch A Star for a long time. I’ve had the pleasure of watching his grandkids grow from babies to taller-than-me!, and several times we’ve done extended family sessions with Dick, his wife Lorraine, daughters Terri and Sherri and their families. I love this whole bunch! – they’re all so relaxed and fun to work with, and the kids have had enough crazy photo sessions with me that they take it all in stride. Thanks so much for another great session!

It just wouldn’t be a session with Miss Heather if we didn’t find some stuff to climb :D.

The shoemakers kids – Venice family photographer

You know that old saying about the shoemaker’s kids having no shoes? That can happen with photographer’s kids too – no photos! This is my good friend and business partner Jenny, of Jenny Waring Photography. Jenny had NEVER HAD FAMILY PORTRAITS MADE. And she’s a photographer! Once I heard this I corralled her group into a session. Let me tell you something, as boys get older, as a general rule, they want nothing to do with portraits. Nothing. They’d rather have teeth pulled. But I promised her boys we’d make it quick and painless, and I think they even had a little bit of fun :). As with any family session, I want to capture the relationships, so we might start with the whole group and then break down into smaller groups. Moms should have pictures with their kids, and dads should too! And don’t forget mom and dad together :).

If I had to pick a favorite, if I HAD to…..I think it would be this one of the three girls! Sheba was PERFECT during this session.

Not just the kids! – North Port family photographer

Man, those DADS. It can be super hard to pin them down for family pictures. But it’s REALLY important. I love when families bring their kids to me every year for photos, but let me tell you, if it’s been a couple years since everyone hopped in a few pictures, you can bet I’m going to be talking to you about it and making sure it gets done! Family pictures are so important … let’s make sure they happen at least every couple of years :). These kids come to me twice a year, but they know now that I’m not going to let too long go by before I’m reminding them it’s time for a session with mom and dad too!

I got to Fairwin Farm for the session a little early, so I spent some time with the horses and other critters I found around the barn. I might have had a liiiiiittle too much fun with this horse…. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€

What does this mean? I’m not a horse person. Does he like me? Not like me? Think I’m funny looking?

birnbach-109

Really funny looking?
